Hilary Duff is now officially Mrs. Comrie after tying the knot with hockey star fiance Mike Comrie on Saturday, August 14. The singer, 22, and the Edmonton Oilers player, 29, were married in in an intimate ceremony at the Mediterranean Villa La Quinta in Santa Barbara, California, OK! Magazine reports.

“Mike held his arm around Hilary for most of the romantic, candlelit ceremony, and they both looked extremely happy,” says an eyewitness. The couple, who first met in 2007, exchanged vows at sunset in front of about 100 close family and friends.

After getting engaged in Hawaii with a $1 million ring, the wedding of Hilary and Edmonton Oilers player Mike was always going to be an extravagant affair. Hilary enlisted celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss, whose previous clients include Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani and Adam Sandler, to help plan the ceremony.

Duff said “I do” in a strapless mermaid gown by Vera Wang, according to reports, with her hair up in a bun. Hilary’s mother Susan Duff walked her down the aisle, which was decorated with candles and rose petals, while older sister Haylie served as Maid of Honor.

Mike  wrapped his arm affectionately around his bride’s waist as they stood before the minister surrounded by hundreds of white flowers. “It was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever seen,” a witness told Us Magazine. “Absolutely stunning. They thought of every last detail and it was an incredible sight.”

After suffering a very public break-up with Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden in 2006 (now engaged to Nicole Richie), Hilary Duff is clearly infatuated with her new husband, who proposed on a romantic Hawaiian break in February.

“I’ve never met anyone who can say a bad word about him,” she said last year. “He’s generous, caring and sunny. We just laugh our heads off.”

The couple were pictured together last weekend at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards looking very much in love (see the photo.) Hilary showed off her toned body in a figure-hugging Herve Leger bandage dress. In addition to the couple’s dance lessons, Duff has been heading to the gym for pre-wedding workouts almost every day in recent weeks.

Her personal trainer Harley Pasternak told People magazine: “The key is to have amazing shoulders, amazing arms, posture is really important. But it’s also important to have a really tight midsection, because the way a wedding dress hugs your midsection, you really want it lean and tight.”

Pasternak also revealed details of Hilary’s wedding day program: “Instead of a five-minute cardio warm-up and a five-minute cardio cool-down, maybe we extend those cardio phases to 15 minutes before and after our workout. She looks toned and tight. I’m really proud of her, she looks fantastic.”

The couple has already begun their married life together: they purchased a $3.85 million mansion back in June (see the photo above.) The sprawling 5,260 square-foot estate boasts five bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms and a pool.

Located in the gated Summit community in Beverly Hills, the couple will have Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale as neighbours. [via NY Daily News, People and US Magazine]
