Actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem Marry in the Bahamas

It’s a match made in Oscar heaven: actors Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have married in a private ceremony in the Bahamas

Cruz’s representative Amanda Silverman confirmed that the couple were married at the beginning of July at a friend’s house in the Caribbean islands.

She said in an e-mail that the ceremony for Cruz, 36, and Bardem, 41, was a small one that only family members attended.

Cruz’s wedding dress was designed by a longtime friend, fashion designer John Galliano.

Cruz and Bardem, who started dating in 2007, are both from Spain. They appeared together in the 2008 Woody Allen romantic comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona. In the film, Cruz played the deranged and violent ex-wife of Bardem. Cruz won a supporting-actress Oscar for her role.

Bardem won a supporting-actor Oscar for the 2007 crime thriller No Country for Old Men.

Speculation that the couple were about to tie the knot had been growing in Hollywood in recent weeks.

Cruz was spotted wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring in October 2009.
