Animal lover and activist Olivia Wilde has been crowned the Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity of 2010 by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA claimed Olivia has saved “the lives of about 100 animals a year” by opting to be a vegan.
Olivia’s winning male partner is “The Biggest Loser” trainer, Bob Harper. PETA mentioned that in addition to becoming a vegan, Bob has helped people to get into shape on the NBC series. He also showed his love for animal as he has adopted a pooch he named Karl.
The two join past celebrity winners in PETA’s annual awards, including Prince, Carrie Underwood, Alicia Silverstone, Chris Martin and Kellie Pickler, to name a few.
Olivia Wilde proves that being vegan helps one shine from the inside out. She has saved lives on Fox’s hit show House and has saved the lives of animals off-screen by choosing a vegan diet. Going vegan saves the lives of about 100 animals a year.
Olivia explains: “Beyond my desire to boycott the torture factories, I am also way happier when I eat a plant based diet, and I feel about a thousand times more energetic.”
Olivia Wilde also said she was thrilled to receive the award along with Harper. “I am really honored, and very inspired to continue living the vegan lifestyle that has been so good to my body, my animal friends, and the world we live in,” she wrote on her blog. “So thank you, PETA, and thanks to all who voted for me!”
Bob Harper, also a vegan, has been credited with dispelling myths associated with the diet and exercise. “I enjoy living a plant-based diet because it makes me feel clear-headed and strong, not to mention my genetically high cholesterol dropped more than 100 points,” says Harper. “That was all the motivation I needed.”
Past winners in 2009 were “Somebody to Love Me” singer Kellie Pickler and “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia. Meanwhile, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ member Anthony Kiedis and Leona Lewis were named PETA’s 2008 Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities.
