A rebounding Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance at Spike TV’s “Guys Choice” event Saturday night.
Despite taking home an Oscar for her role in “The Blind Side,” 2010 has not been the best of years for actress Sandra Bullock. Jesse James, Bullock’s husband of five years, was revealed to having extramarital affairs only a short time after Bullock took home the Academy Award.
Bullock has been mostly quiet during these past few months, choosing to stay out of the spectacle-celebrity limelight James so ungalantly thrust her into.
But on Saturday June 5, at a taping of Spike TV’s Guy Choice Awards in Hollywood, Bullock decided to drop an explosive bombshell on stage.
Spike TV presented her with their antler-shaped Troops Choice Award for the “Entertainer of the Year.” Bullock decided to use the event to make light of her current divorce.
“Let’s be honest here, just for a moment. We’re all going to be honest, right?” Bullock stated.
“Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. (improvised explosive device) explosion that became my personal life?”
According to Reuters, Bullock offered to sing to the troops present, but joked that they had “seen enough pain.”
“I would like to do something I’ve always wanted to do in person, which is to thank you, to thank all the men and women that make it possible for me to wake up in the morning free,” she said to the soldiers.
Spike TV is a male-oriented cable network, and its Guys Choice Awards is scheduled to air on June 20.
