It’s not a secret that women shop a lot. A survey by a marketing firm finds that over a 63-year lifespan, the average female will spend about 2 years and 10 months—or 25,184 hours and 53 minutes—shopping for food, clothes, and the like, according to TheSun’s report.
Researchers found that females make 301 shopping trips – totalling 399 hours, 46 minutes – annually.
The survey of 2,000 women showed they window shop at least 51 times. They buy food on an average of 84 occasions, taking a total of 94 hours and 55 minutes.
And they devote 90 shopping trips a year to keeping up appearances. They go for clothes 30 times (100hr, 48min), shoes 15 times (40hr 30min) and accessories 18 times (29hr 31min).
Even shopping for more mundane items, such as deodorant, shower gel and razors, takes women approximately 17 hours and 33 minutes across the 12 months.
A spokesman tells the Sun: “Many men seem to think women only shop when they are buying clothes for themselves. “But they often shop for the entire family and that can be incredibly hard work.” [via The Sun (UK)]
