Infinite USB Creates a Chain of USB Devices

One of the many things that annoy us on a regular basis is when an USB device or other plug blocks us from using another USB port on computer or other gadget. You could just buy one of those USB hubs to remedy this problem, or you could try a brand new approach.

One of the many things that annoy us on a regular basis is when an USB device or other plug blocks us from using another USB port on computer or other gadget. You could just buy one of those USB hubs to remedy this problem, or you could try a brand new approach.

Designer Gonglue Jiang offers a simple solution: the Infinite USB Concept. The cables solve the problem of overloaded USB ports without resorting to a messy hub. Each plug is both male and female, letting it both give and receive USB data and power. The hermaphroditic cords can be daisy-chained, letting you stack several plugs together for some hot multiple gadget-on-port action.

The only limit we see is that of power, just the same as when you use a non-powered hub to hook up too many devices to one port. Other than that, this design is so good we’d like to see it incorporated into every USB cable out there. Each one is color-coded, so it’s easy to tell exactly what it’s connected to.

However, if your chain of cables is that long, your time might be better spent doing some Spring cleaning with your gadget collection. Dear readers, what do you think about Gonglue’s Infinite USB?! [via YankoDesign]
