BMW has confirmed that it will be upgrading its the 2011 135i with a new engine and other modifications. It’s out with the old 3.0-liter twin turbo six-cylinder and in with a new twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six.

While it doesn’t sound like a huge change (both engines produce 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque), BMW says the new engine will offer “better throttle response and even more fuel efficiency.”

The 135i will also get the option of seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with dedicated paddles for upshifting and downshifting. The sound system is upgraded with Harman Kardon Surround Sound. Look for the updated 135i to start arriving at US dealerships this spring. [via WorldCarFans]
