What do you think about this project: upgrade the world’s cheapest car, put a Ferrari price tag on it and see what happens.  The Indian design firm, DC Design is in the process of fully customizing a Tata Nano to put it in the price range of $220,000.

DC Design will strip the car down to the chassis, replacing mechanics, body panels and interior components with more luxurious alternatives. The 33 hp stock engine will be replaced with a beefier 1.6-liter engine that can push the subcompact to a 124 mph top speed. The company plans to produce two to five vehicles a year for wealthy Indian consumers and export to other markets. [via MotorAuthority]
