Google introduces a new tool to the Google Web Toolkit called Speed Tracer. The latest Chrome extension, Speed Tracer enables developers to view the performance of their apps and identify issues that might be slowing things down.

Google explains the motivation behind the tool: ” Do you ever wonder what’s going on inside the browser when a webpage doesn’t load or respond as quickly as it should? Many developers do, especially when trying to build powerful web applications for their users. But up until now, it’s been difficult for developers to identify problems in a slow-to-respond application.”

Google’s Speed Tracer Tool will use a performance graph in addition to other indicators and data to help programmers get specific on how fast their application is running and what problems might be slowing it down. Anything that prevents us from enduring that unwavering loading screen from mocking us for minutes on end sounds like good news. [GoogleSpeedTracer via GoogleBlog]
