Audi at least has officially revealed the 2011 Audi A8 at the Miami Auto Show. The new 2011 Audi A8 is the top-end Audi’s luxury model, designed to compete directly with the luxury class Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar and Aston Martin models. The 2011 Audi A8 is powered by a 372hp V8 engine capable of takeoff to sixty times of under 5.7 seconds. Despite being more powerful, the new A8 is also more fuel efficient, with a claimed improvement of 15% with the aforementioned gas V8.
Inside, the new A8 is teched out as a wireless internet hotspot, which provides a 3D satellite nav system with Google Earth and even a web-connected audio library. That sound will be pushed by 19 Bang & Olufsen speakers and 1400 watts of audio power.
The interior of the new Audi A8 is a wellness lounge for the senses. With its elegant styling and quality of workmanship on the craftsman level, the interior is deeply rooted in the philosophy of the Audi brand. In the cut it is much wider, more airy and spacious than its predecessor. Its salient element is the “wrap-around” – a circumferential curve forming an elegant beltline as on a yacht. The large curve integrates the sleek and low instrument panel. The driver information system (DIS), which serves as a fully fledged information and control center, has a new layout. Its center display has increased to a 7-inch diagonal, showing all functions according to an easily understandable concept. It is operated at the equally improved multifunction steering wheel.
When it comes to America late next year, the new Audi A8 will arrive in both standard and extended-wheelbase models, and we have it on good authority that both TDI and hybrid variants will also come to the States – although the alternative fuel powertrains aren’t likely to happen right away.
