What do you get when you consolidate 2 luxury brands, neither of which has anything to do with mobile phones? Yes, One More Unnecessary Luxury Cell Phone. The team-up of Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and Italian car maker Lamborghini could have brought a stylish carbon timepiece or limited edition Murcielago with TAG Heuer-inspired instrument panel to market. Instead it they create the new TAG Heuer Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini phone.
Looking like it came from 1997 (do you believe one of the first Nokia cell phone from Matrix?!), the new phone’s attraction really ends at its premium branding and promise of being inspired by the incredible Murcielago. It doesn’t bring anything new or interesting to the mobile phone market, but uses a variety of Lambo ploys such as signature on the battery cover and logo on the keypad to justify what’s undoubtedly a stupidly-expensive price tag.
Outside of that, you get the luxury-staple sapphire crystal display, black titanium carbide coated 316L stainless steel housing, 2 MP camera, Bluetooth and media player. It’ll be available from Lamborghini and TAG Heuer dealers to the tune of 1963 examples. Why only 1963?! The answer is simple. 1963 is the Lamborghini’s founding year. [via Engadget]
