So if you don’t want to open up your laptop to find out the latest NASA news, you can now get it on your iPhone. NASA IPhone App, which was released today, provides the user with instant access to information, updates and pictures on all current NASA missions. App users can also instantly find the location of the International Space Station and other spacecraft using three different views for scoping it out: maps with borders, satellite imagery and satellite images overlaid onto maps.

The app also provides access to such NASA classics as the Image of the Day, NASA’s twitter feeds, videos and countdown clocks. The free app is seen as a way for the struggling space agency to get some more public recognition and interest in its missions. While there’s some inherent dweeb factor to toting NASA wherever you go, even those that don’t follow space have to be impressed with the beautiful imagery of the deep, black unknown. And it’s free, so don’t lose time. [via CNET]
