In celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mini Cooper, BMW has revealed the Mini Coupe Concept and it dispenses with all but the basic fundamentals of what makes MINI great. The new mini cooper is a sporty new upgrade to the classic Mini. The Mini Coupe Concept features the classic Mini front end with an aggressive rear-side upgrade featuring a curved rear windsheild and a subtle roof-level spoiler. Under the hood, the Coupé Concept will include the most powerful engine currently available in the MINI – the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine pushing 211 HP with peak torque of 192 lb-ft increasing through the Overboost function to an even more substantially front wheel-squealing 206 lb-ftt. The Mini Coupe Concept will be shown at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show 2009, continuing on the legacy of the Mini Cooper that was exactly 50 years old yesterday, August 26th.
