Do you remember Chumby?! The cute media players that allow users to pick information widgets and then streams it from the internet. The cutely-named counter top gadget never quite took off, despite its neat ability to deliver a wealth of information through Wi-Fi widgets. But instead of sulking, Chumby’s transforming, with the brand and underlying software being sold to other gadget makers. That means you’ll soon be able to get widgets for weather, online photos, Internet radio and social networking through devices such as Blu-ray players, TVs and even digital picture frames. It is set to get a wider platform as the company executives have decided to port its software on to other gadgets to create a “powered by Chumby” brand, reports Forbes. The first “powered by Chumby” products likely to appear this year. [via Wired]
