newlogo2This is the first of two or three articles devoted to check the website status and website loading time. Yesterday I noticed that my website loading too much time that is why I write about it today. I have found a lot of information about checking website status in Google and now I want to share this info with you.

So, whenever I am unable to load any website, for example, The Blog IS Mine Dot Com, I would first need to make sure whether it is the server side or my side problem. This is what I’ll do to make sure that it is not my Internet connection, computer configuration problem, firewall or a virus that has modified my server files.

For example, I turn on my computer and connect to the WWW. Then I launched Firefox/Opera/IE 8.0 and type www.theblogismine.com at the URL. After waiting for a while, the site still doesn’t load and later my browser gives me such a message “Unable to connect. Browser can’t establish a connection to the server at www.theblogismine.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that your browser is permitted to access the web.”

Instead of immediately asking my friends to help me check whether can they access the website that I was trying, I can do it yourself via domainTools. All I need to do is enter the domain name or IP address of the website. There a lot of features at this site.

One of them is reverse-IP – which help to find out how many domains hosted on this IP address. Check for example www.theblogismine.com – more than 4000 domains.

There are many other similar websites such as  Down For Everyone or Just Me or www.websitepulse.com that provides free service to determine if a site is actually up if you can’t reach it yourself but DNS Tools & Web Site Pulse are my favorite tools.

In my next post I’ll tell you about 7 Free Tools To Check Website Loading Time.
