Nokia have officially unveiled the E72 – their new QWERTY smartphone followup to the fantastic E71 and a new 5530 XpressMusic Device at the Connection 09 event in Singapore.
Compared to its none-too-old brother, the E72 will see its camera bumped up to 5 megapixels along with the addition of an integrated compass, an optical navigation key and sensibly a 3.5mm headphone jack. Nokia says the S60 handset features a “desktop like email experience” and will begin shipping third quarter of 2009 for $485 without contract. Nokia also says:
Swift, slim and resourceful are three words that accurately describe the new Nokia E72, which was unveiled at the Nokia Connection event in Singapore. Nokia’s latest full QWERTY smartphone brings a rich mobile email and instant messaging experience right out of the box, making it the ideal device for people that want to be productive in both their personal and professional lives.

Nokia also reveales the 5530 XpressMusic – essentially a smaller, cheaper 5800 – featuring a 2.9 inch widescreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 4GB memory card. The GSM/EDGE phone doesn’t use 3G but can at least connect via wifi; it will also be available third quarter of 2009 for around $275 unsubsidized.
They say about 5530 XpressMusic:
Compact XpressMusic device that uses a touch interface for accessing people and content on the brilliantly clear homescreen. The ’scrolling’ Contacts Bar provides direct access to 20 people and their latest conversations and media updates. The homescreen also features one touch shortcuts to content and popular social networks, like Facebook and MySpace. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic follows in the footsteps of the top-rated Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, expanding the touch XpressMusic phone range with a youthful device that has a solid stainless steel frame finish and comes in five vivid colors.
